Tykocin, Kiermusy – the Stork Village

Route: Chroszcz, Tykocin, Kiermusy, Pentowo, Waniewo.

Main features of the route:

Moderate truck traffic,

Mostly asphalt roads running through both forests and fields,

Plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy nature.

Choroszcz – the Branicki summer residence (time: 30 minutes – 1 hour)

We head to Choroszcz, home to the Branicki family’s summer residence, where you can visit the Museum of Palace Interiors. The building and its surroundings blend so well into the landscape that everything here seems to fit perfectly, despite more than 200 years of history. We ride on – along the S8 towards Tykocin – travel time: 25 minutes (18.5 km)

Tykocin – the castle, the synagogue, the Church of the Holy Trinity and much, much more (from 30 minutes to several hours)

Here it’s worth planning your day in advance, including booking a table. There’s a beautiful (rebuilt) castle with a restaurant, the Church of the Holy Trinity and a historic synagogue. There’s plenty to do.

We ride on – heading for Kiermusy – 10 minutes – 5 km

Kiermusy – the fair (from 30 minutes)

The antiques fair in Kiermusy is the largest market of its kind in Podlasie. Thanks to its fame and unique range of goods, it attracts enthusiasts from all over Poland – and even from abroad! Next to it is the Museum of Arms, with numerous exhibits from the age of medieval knights. Props from this museum were used in film adaptations such as „The Teutonic Knights”, „Colonel Wolodyjowski”, „The Deluge” and „With Fire and Sword”

On the way we pass the village of Pentowo – 5 minutes – 2.5 km

Waniewo – Śliwno (30 minutes to 1 hour)

An atmospheric footbridge between Waniewo and Śliwno – a whole kilometre long!! It connects the two banks of the Narew. Besides the views, the floating platforms are a real attraction.

Note: the footbridge is closed in winter
